Auditions are traditionally found at varying talent offices and studios in California. These are mostly found around the Los Angeles area but some offices tend to make road trips out to San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento and other major cities around California. Also, these auditions generally require a few things like some special reads for agents and a headshot as needed. A resume may also be provided but only if the applicant has acted before.
One of the best benefits of being on the network is the substantial cable and satellite reach that the network has. Not only can kids show up on the Nickelodeon network but they can also show up on the teen-oriented TeenNick channel and in some cases on Nick Jr., a channel for the preschool and early education audience. Nickelodeon’s ability to cater to different kinds of kids makes it so stars on the network can become easily noticeable. Nickelodeon is also one of the country’s top cable networks in terms of access. It is estimated that about one hundred million people in the United States have access to the network on their cable systems. This makes it one of the top ten cable networks in the United States, surpassing such popular cable stations like TNT, ESPN, TLC and AMC.
There is also the strong merchandising and marketing outreach that Nickelodeon has. This makes it easier for kids who star on the network to be noticed and promoted. Of course, most shows won’t generate more than five billion dollars like the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants has but it is still a good bet to appear on the network.
Kids who show up in Nickelodeon auditions in California also have potentials to become big stars after working at the networks. Several notable figures in entertainment got their start with Nickelodeon. Christine Taylor starred on the television show Hey Dude and has since become a star in many movies and also on the television series Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Actress Amanda Bynes starred in the comedy show All That before having her own spinoff and eventually starring in network television on What I Like About You. Kenan Thompson was also on All That before moving on to starring on Saturday Night Live. Nickelodeon auditions in California are great in that they allow kids to have a change to show off their acting skills to agents in the Golden State. This can give kids the chance to potentially become big stars on one of the country’s top cable and satellite networks.
